PREASTHANA TRIYA
Presthana triya is a sanscrit word referring to the three sacred books the Upanishad, The Bhagavath Gita and
the Brahma sutras collectively.
Vedantic philosophy acknowledges the preasthana triya as the three
authoritative primary sources. The
upanishaths are the sruthi prastanas they are 108 in
number. The Bhagavath gita is the Smithi
prastana based on the Upanishads of Vedas.
The brahma suthras are nyana
prastanas and they are logical
texts. They set forth the philosophy systematically. No study of vedantha is complete without a close
examination of Prastana triya.
